Rivas

Nice to have San Juan back to normal, now we can see the sea and the sunset again, no traffic jams, no crowds, nice :)

Sunset at San Juan del Sur

Most Tuesdays we visit a neighbouring town (about an hour away on the bus) called Rivas.  We are helping to go through the territory looking for English speakers, to let them know about the new group and English meetings in San Juan

Kieran and a young brother called Jake, visiting from New Jersey.

Rivas is pretty big, it's actually a district that takes in San Juan and the island of Omatepe as well but Rivas city itself has a population of about 26,000.

There is a good produce market there as well as shops with everything, fairly cheap but not very good quality.  We stocked up the other day with a blender, pots and pans, glasses, kettle etc.  The kettle was for tea but sadly I have to say that so far I just haven't found a good black tea here.  I miss Dilmah, lol.

The city is full of bike taxis .....  (not my pic, I forgot to take one - next time :) )

... and the other day we finally took one just for fun - well actually it was stinking hot and we just couldn't be bothered to walk from one side of the city to the other, again!

Here's part of the Rivas market as we tootled past ....

While we were visiting Rivas I had to smile at how inutile the barbed wire around this school was at keeping the kids in, or out for that matter.
