First week in Nicaragua ... guitars and giant chairs

We've been so busy doing things that it's hard to find the time to blog about them but here are a few of the experiences and sights from our first week in Nicaragua.

Kieran tried out some local guitars and bought one that has a lovely tone.  His budget didn't quite stretch to some of the ones on offer but they were real works of art, made from a variety of woods in each guitar, rose-wood, cedar and a number of local Nicaraguan woods.

We got to see how the locals cope with the heat .....

how they transport building materials ....

oxen are a common sight in town as well but I haven't had my camera handy when we've seen them.

The motorbike seems to be the family vehicle of choice here ....

We're loving all the local food here but I must say that we really enjoyed this pizza for a change :)

These giant chairs are in the Central Park in Masaya, just up the road from our hostel, no one else seems to use them but they were awesome, this one was just for the shot but next time we're going to take our lunch up!

We visited the lookout at Lake Masaya, just a short walk out of town ....

That's where all the lovers hang out <3

On the walk back Kieran demonstrated to what ends one sometimes needs to go if the decide to stay on the pavement.

And to top our day off we came across an interesting signing protecting this fence and tree from people peeing on them.

Wed 20 Feb, 2013

We got to meet some lovely new brothers and sisters at the Masaya del Sur congregation.

Friday 22nd Feb, 2013

Today we joined the Masaya del Sur congregation for witnessing ....
the group was at 830 (a little earlier than we're used to jeje) and we needed to leave the hostel at 745 in order to get there on time.

We met some lovely people in their territory, including this lovely young lady.  Although only around 10 years old she had an awesome Bible knowledge and was able to explain the prophecy of Daniel 2:44 as well as why there is a need something better than human rulership.

... on the way home, looking up this local riverbed, we could only agree!
