A few weeks ago we got the exciting news that we would soon become grandparents, well ok, honorary grandparents but grandparents nonetheless and as very proud honorary grandparents I would like to dedicate this post to Sam & Micah and their two new twin baby girls - Millie Layla and Indi-Rose. Sam is a very special girl to us, being our daughter No 2 and we've known her and her lovely family from before she was even a twinkle in Joel and Nicola's eyes.
She has been a lovely best friend of our daughter Bree ever since they were wee things ...
And I had the privilege of being her wedding photographer and what a beautiful bride she was.
And now we get to share another amazing and wonderful milestone in her life as she's become mum to two lovely little girls that I can't wait to meet and to give a big squeeze to. The girls were born at 29 weeks so it will be a little while before Sam and Micah get to take them home but here they are getting some special hugs from their mum. Soooo cute! So thanks for sharing your life with us Sam and we wish you and Micah and your lovely girls all the best and we look forward to sharing more special times with you and the girls in the days and years to come :)
Not quite as cute but still lovely the rest of this post is a farewell to Paul Danger Henry and Damo who have just left SJDS and headed back to Aussie. We had some great times with these boys and will miss having them around. They put heaps of effort in to their time here both in learning Spanish and with being busy in the ministry and are such a good example - balancing life out of course with the odd surf here and there :) Good on ya boys - keep up the good work!
Although it was a bit early we threw the boys a surprise farewell party which we had at the Higgs place. The Higgs just happen to be renting out a vacant hotel, very nice indeed. They invited the boys over for 'dinner' and they seemed genuinely surprised when we all leapt out of our hiding places and they saw all the streamers etc.
Zaira had conscripted Kieran to help her make a pile of letters which some of the others helped them cut out and they all put a lot of work into making the farewell messages for the boys.
No farewell party is complete without water balloons although I think that Ben needs a little bit of instruction on what to do with them, you throw them Ben rather than squeeze them, I think you'll find them a bit more effective that way.
Ant, our resident animal loving vegetarian was there and showed that he loves all creatures great and small, I was worried that he was going to lick the poor little thing but no he was just looking for his Princess Charming, unfortunately she didn't appear despite the kiss she received.
Actually, for a toad he/she was rather cute!
The night was a make your own burger deal.
Edwin gave Lilly a different perspective of the world.
And there were some great pool battles and even a good old aussie game of Marco Polo.
Good times, good times.
The next day saw us off on the bus for Rivas and here are a few bus shots for the boys to remember how nice and cosy Nicaraguan bus trips could get ....
And how dangerous the streets are, here's a mad mexican that we ran into .....
And just to finish off a couple of Rivas shots to remember the place by ....
This old man was leading his blind relative (I guess, son maybe?) up the road ...
And here's the Rivas bus terminal that was a frequent part of our Tuesdays.
All the best boys, cya when we cya :)
